I have been a print designer on a commercial scale for the last 14 years, and my philosophy is best summed up like this: By removing your ego you allow yourself to have more breadth in your art making, and it puts the consumer in focus. Priority is given to creating original artwork and is informed by research and experience. My background is in apparel design, which is a great asset when making prints. You always have to keep in mind that the art is not going to show up on a flat surface, but rather on a body, and that is best considered in the very making of the print. What happens at the edge? Does the front differ from the back? How will this move and be placed on the body?
My experience spans both handmade and computer-made prints, repeats and placed prints. As well as other material developments, such as embroidery, knits and woven.
