HYPERFLORA: International Energy

The task: Creating a print as one of the first “reverse seasonality” packs for Nike, based in Mexican flora and fauna as part of the Women’s RTL strategy for the HO18 season.

The response: Keeping it to the basics I decided to focus on bringing new energy to a classic tropical print. Knowing that this print was going to end up on a range of product, from footwear aglets to dresses and graphics, my main goal was to create a range of versions, so that each iteration would be appropriate for its intended use. The print was blown out globally with a huge reach and used as the main vehicle for the brand narrative, with events and several editorial campaigns around the world.

WE HAVE A SAYING in our in our office, “When new Nike drops, everything stops.”

Suffice to say, with the just released Nike Hyper Flora collection popping up all over our radar, we more than stopped. We froze.

Starring many of Nike’s much-loved classic styles, the new collection borrows inspiration from Mexico’s rich and diverse native flora through a special hand-painted print.

And. It’s. Stunning.

Transforming iconic Nike styles through large scale floral motifs, the range features the beauty of the flowers in vivid detail.

Florals behind the print include the Mexican Breadfruit, Morning Glory, Majesty Palm and the Neotropical Orchid. Feathers of the vibrant Macaw parrot also complement the eye-catching palette.

Perfect for summer, the print comes in a bold contrast between dark blue, red and vibrant green, as well as in a lighter version with soft pastel colors such as pink, grey, light blue and yellow.

Famous Nike staples boasting the Hyper Flora treatment include the Power 7/8 Training Tights, Air Zoom Pegasus 35 GPX RS and cult sneaker favourite, Nike Air Force 1 Jester XX, among others.
